GarageScout

How GarageScout works

Describe the car you want in one sentence. GarageScout works out exactly what you mean, searches the places enthusiast cars are listed, checks each listing against your words, and shows you only the cars that match.

1. Say what you want, the way you would say it

There are no filter panels to fill in. Type a sentence such as:

GarageScout turns that into a precise search: the exact model years for the chassis code or generation you named, the trim, the gearbox, your mileage and price ceilings, and the colors and options you care about. Words such as “manual,” “under 60k miles” or a named color are treated as requirements, not suggestions.

2. It searches where these cars are actually listed

An enthusiast car is rarely on the one site you happen to check. Each search covers, at once:

Which sources apply depends on the car: a 1990s Supra and a new GT4 are listed in different places, and GarageScout skips sites that do not carry the car you asked for.

3. Every listing is checked against your sentence

This is the step a filter panel cannot do. A site’s own “manual” filter is only as good as the seller’s data entry, and colors and options often appear only in the description or the photos. GarageScout reads each listing and checks it against what you asked for:

Exact matches come first. Close matches are shown below them with a note saying exactly what they are missing, for example “color not stated” or “automatic,” so you decide what is worth a look.

4. It keeps looking after you close it (Pro)

The car you want is usually not for sale on the day you search. With GarageScout Pro you save the search, GarageScout re-runs it every day across every source, and you get an email or a phone notification on the day a new match is listed. For a rare spec, being first to know is often the difference between buying the car and reading the sold result.

Questions people ask

Does GarageScout sell cars? No. GarageScout finds listings and links you to them. You deal with the seller, auction or dealer directly, on their terms.

Where does it work? Listings across the United States. Each result shows where the car is, and how far away when you give GarageScout your ZIP code.

Can sellers pay to rank higher? No. Results are ordered by how well they match your sentence.

Why did a car I know about not show up? Usually because the listing never states something you required, such as the gearbox, so it was left out rather than guessed. Try the search without that word to see it among the close matches, or tell us and we will look.

Is there an app? Yes: GarageScout is on Google Play for Android, and works in any browser at garagescout.app.
